In this heartwarming film set in 1970s, eight-year-old Meehee Park, the daughter of immigrants from Korea, hopes that getting a Cindy doll for Christmas will help her fit in. Realizing that her parents can¹t afford the gift, Meehee discovers that the doll will be available in an upcoming neighbourhood auction and saves her money. But will she have enough?

Director's Bio: 
Born in Seoul, Korea, Gloria Ui Young Kim comes from a long line of writers and media makers. After getting her degree in English Literature at the University of Toronto, Gloria decided to pursue her love of film, attending Ryerson for Image Arts. Gloria was invited to the Governor General’s Awards in Visual and Media Arts, is a recent grad of the Canadian Film Centre’s Director’s Lab and was shortlisted for the 2009 K.M. Hunter’s Award-Film & Video by the Ontario Arts Council. She was chosen for the 2009 Toronto International Film Festival’s Talent Lab and a finalist for the 2009 Telefilm Pitch This! Competition. Gloria’s new short film, THE AUCTION, won Audience Choice Award for Best Short Film at Sprockets in 2010, as well as the LIFT & Fuji Best Film Award at the Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival (to air later on the CBC).
